ORTHOPEDIC TECHNOLOGY TRAINING PROGRAM

Orthopedic Technology Training Program

Flex, in partnership with Montgomery College, developed the Orthopedic Technology Training Program in 2002. Orthopaedic Technologists (OTs) are allied health professionals who assist orthopaedic physicians in the treatment of patients in a variety of health care environments:

  • Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and braces
  • Set up, adjust and maintain traction configurations, assist with the care of acutely injured patients and assist the physician in the reduction and/or manipulation of orthopaedic injuries
  • Assist doctors during surgery by manipulating a patient's extremities and retracting soft tissues
  • Valued members of a team of workers who provide much-needed care for those with minor and acute injuries.

After two years of existence, the program is recognized by the National Association of Orthopedic Technologist. The Orthopedic Technologists' review committee has determined the program meets the requirements for the recognized program status from the organization. This recognized status is only held by four other programs in the country.

Flex believes in education and the continuing education of all personnel, well trained personnel is the corner stone of our profession. The end user has the right to expect and insist on the best for the patient without reservation.
